ZACK FREIWALD BIOGRAPHY
By, Damian Mulinix

When looking for who could be the next big thing in the world of singer/songwriters, one can’t overlook Zack Freiwald, a burgeoning performer of Americana/Roots music today.

Just like the American singers of old, Freiwald performs alone on the stage, with only his guitar and voice to carry him.

Freiwald has been paying his dues and earning acclaim along the east and west coasts of the United States with personable performances of his songs that speak of the human condition and the world today. “down drinking at the bars, trying to dance with a younger man, not gettin’ no where, going home lonely in her car.” — from “Ain’t It Just the Way” by Zack Freiwald

Freiwald began his career in coffeehouses and small venues along the northern California coast, where he became a regular and an audience favorite. He quickly moved up to larger venues as well, including performances as the opening act for some of today’s best new folk acts including Canada’s James Keelaghan and Alabama’s Dave Potts.

Having grown up in a small town, Freiwald’s music is made up of those stories of love and the common man struggling to get by that is so prevalent to those areas, as well as tales from an older age. “Ain’t your company and this ain’t California, but it feels good just the same. The air is still and I ain’t worried ‘bout gettin’ killed, ‘cause nobody here knows my name.” — from “Gallup” by Zack Freiwald
Such topics are what made up the songs of his first self-produced album, “Into the Sea.” He is currently working on a new live/studio album that is scheduled to be finished by spring of 2004.

Freiwald is now back from an enlistment in the United States Army that saw him sent to S. Korea in 2003. A freak head injury that caused a sub-acute sub-dural hematoma sent Freiwald back to his current home in Cameron, North Carolina, where he has been rehabilitating and getting the wheels of his musical career greased.
Freiwald has spent the past several months writing new songs and honing his performance skills in Tar-heel country haunts as well as regular appearances on a local music radio program. Now able to fully realize his potential as a performing artist, Zack Freiwald is looking forward to the days ahead, with a cross-country tour of several states is in the works for later this year.

A FEW QUOTES ABOUT ZACK:

"Freiwald has been performing his own brand of music for years, even recording and distributing some of his earliest works though the Web site MP3.com. But try and put a label on his music, and you might get some different responses depending on who you ask. "
